SiriusXM Subsidiary Buys Pay Toll App Company

Automatic acquires PayTollo

Its subsidiary company Automatic has acquired a firm called PayTollo, a mobile payment platform for toll roads and bridges that it says gives drivers and toll authorities a streamlined payment option.

“PayTollo’s GPS Toll Recognition Technology algorithm and user interface delivers the ability to notify, verify and charge a user for toll crossings,” it said. “PayTollo is currently an accepted payment option for tolls in Florida and California. PayTollo simplifies the tolling experience, from paying tolls across different toll roads and bridges to account management and billing, all through the use of the PayTollo mobile app.” For the toll authorities, the system can reduce costs and streamline various processes, it said.

Joe Verbrugge is EVP and GM of emerging business for SiriusXM. Earlier this week Automatic introduced a connectivity service that can be offered to drivers by car dealers.

PayTollo was founded in 2015 as a utility app used by drivers to receive current road and bridge toll prices during their driving. Part of its platform is a geolocation algorithm that identifies the toll you cross and bills an account electronically.

Abenezer Yohalashet, the CEO of PayTollo, becomes director, head of tolling for Automatic. In the announcement he said, “The synergy between connected vehicle services and toll payment are considerable and together, SiriusXM, Automatic and PayTollo will accelerate the growth of our platform and enable us to more quickly offer tolling solutions to drivers across the country.”
