Slovenia has officially begun its transition to digital radio with the deployment of a digital multiplexer called the R1.
The R1 will contribute to seven transmitters around the country reaching 60 percent of the population for indoor reception and 70 percent for outdoor reception, according to Slovenia’s Agency for Communication Networks and Services. Four radio stations operated by RTV Slovenija and nine commercial stations will begin to operate digitally.
Slovenia has opted for the DAB+ technology to work alongside its existing FM network. It’s also been announced that Elti DAB+ transmitters and antenna systems are being used for the transition.
