Tascam Offers ‘Digital Production Environment’

The new SX-1 from Tascam is promoted as an all-in-one production solution.
It combines hard-disk recording, digital mixing, MIDI sequencing, plug-in effects, DAW-style editing and mastering in a package for top-end production. The price is $8,999 plus monitor.
The mixer is a 40-input, 32x8x8 digital console with dynamic automation and 16 phantom-powered mic preamps. The HD recorder is a 48-kHz, 24-bit, 16-track unit that can add IDE and SCSI drives. The editor allows waveform, MIDI and automation data editing.
