Sports radio is a big business that has mushroomed to its current size over the last decade; especially the last few years.
But in the late 1990s, the concept of a weekly golf radio show was probably looked on as a double bogey.
What did they know? KVET(AM) knew better, letting a show called “That’s Golf,” hosted by Jim Apfelbaum, tee off on a weekend morning.
Now part of the Clear Channel Austin, Texas, cluster, KVET’s Saturday morning program celebrates its 16th year on June 1. Host Jim Apfelbaum has since written books, won writing and broadcasting awards along with helming the caddying the award-winning show. Looks like a hole in one.
