Timbre Media Set to Revive WorldSpace Programming

Former WorldSpace India employees look to revive station brands online and via other platforms

When WorldSpace shuttered its India operations at the end of 2009, it left thousands of listeners without an outlet for the local and international programming delivered by the satellite radio platform. Now a group of former WorldSpace India employees are looking revive the station brands online and via other platforms.

Timbre Media is offering customized radio content for multiple broadcast platforms, along with specialty programming for corporate groups, FM stations, DTH services, retail establishments and other outlets.

Individuals can tune in online to Timbre Radio-branded channels that recreate the channels previously offered by WorldSpace India. Indian record label Saregama has acquired 10 percent of Timbre Media and its catalog of recordings will help propagate the channels.
