Viva Credited for Remedial Action

But it still is fined in a case involving alleged violations on EAS, AM signoff and public files.

Yet more activity on the fine front.

The Federal Communications Commission issued a forfeiture order for $12,800 to Viva Communications Group for failure to maintain operational Emergency Alert System equipment, to sign off at local sunset time, to maintain daytime operating power at more than 90% of the authorized power and to maintain a complete public inspection file.

Viva is licensee of WSDE(AM), Cobleskill, N.Y.

The original fine was $16,000 in 2007; Viva asked for the fine to be cancelled because it had taken remedial efforts before the FCC inspection. The FCC felt circumstances were appropriate to reduce the fine.
