Voltair Discussed at Nielson Audio Advisory Council Meeting

Council says Nielsen is on-track with testing

Members of the Nielsen Audio Advisory Council discussed the Voltair audio processor at their recent meeting.

Readers may recall the Voltair, from Telos Alliance company 25-Seven Systems, is an audio processor and Portable People Meter processor/monitor that debuted at the recent NAB Show.

Nielsen has been testing the unit to see what effect, if any, the Voltair has on the PPM encoding process. Telos is working with Nielsen to support those test efforts, we reported.

The audience research firm told clients in April it anticipated having results in June.

John Fullam, vice president and market manager, Greater Media Philadelphia, is the 2015 chair of the Nielsen Audio Advisory Council. He took over the role from Joel Oxley, senior regional vice president and market manager for Hubbard Radio, in January.

“We had productive discussions with Nielsen and they shared with us their testing plan during the Nielsen Audio Advisory Council meeting,” Fullam said in a statement he shared with Radio World. “They reported that they have just completed lab testing of the Voltair product and will next be executing real-world testing of various AM and FM stations as well as different formats. They said that their evaluation and test results will be validated by an independent auditor and that they are on schedule to share results with all clients later this month.”

Until the Voltair evaluation process is completed, Fullam and the council won’t comment further.

Council members just ended a two-day confab in Hanover, Md.
