Trivia question: Who are the three Ford C. Frick Award recipients who also played in the Major Leagues?
If you know the answer to a question like that, you also might want to put in your vote for the next worthy broadcaster to get that honor.
Online voting for fan selections begins Monday to determine three of the 10 names on the final ballot for the 2009 Frick Award, given by the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The award honors baseball broadcasters; the winner will be announced in December.
Fans can cast votes once per day through September.
Two hundred and ten broadcasters are eligible for consideration; bios will be posted on the site. The final ballot will consist of three fan selections and seven others picked by a staff team. The winner is then chosen by the living award-winners and five historians.
The living past recipients are Dave Niehaus, chosen last year, as well as Marty Brennaman, Jerry Coleman, Gene Elston, Joe Garagiola, Ernie Harwell, Jaime Jarrin, Milo Hamilton, Harry Kalas, Denny Matthews, Felo Ramirez, Vin Scully, Lon Simmons, Bob Uecker and Bob Wolff.
Who will join them next is the question now before the voters.
(The answer to the quiz: Joe Garagiola, Bob Uecker and Jerry Coleman.)
