WENT(AM) Rebuilds After Tower Crash in N.Y.

WENT is almost finished its tower rebuild.
Since a tornado ripped through Fulton County, N.Y., at the end of May and toppled the tower of the station at 1340 kHz, the full-service station has almost finished its rebuild and is preparing to return to full-power broadcasting. No one was hurt at the station during the storm.
The tornado knocked over most of the 180-foot free-standing tower, but the station’s engineers had the signal back up again two days later. The station is rebuilding on the tower’s foundation and lower third of the structure, which survived, and expects to complete the repairs this week.
The original tower was built in 1943. WENT went on the air in 1944.
