WESA Schedules Live ‘War of the Worlds’

Pittsburgh sits in for Grover’s Mill

Noncommercial station WESA(FM) in Pittsburgh has scheduled a live presentation of “War of the Worlds,” Oct. 30, starting at 9 p.m.

The live presentation will emanate from Pittsburgh’s Bricolage Theater and will be performed as part of the Midnight Radio series. The theater describes Midnight Radio as “a raucous live comedy series in the style of classic 1940s radio broadcasts, featuring suspenseful action thrillers, vintage sound effects, musical guests, fake breaking news, commercial spoofs, and more.”

There will be a live studio audience at the theater. WESA’a Paul Guggenheimer, host of “Essential Pittsburgh,” will promote the production in his program earlier in the day.

This year is the 75th anniversary of Orson Welles’ legendary production.
