What Do Lum & Abner Have in Common With Art Bell?

The National Radio Hall of Fame, housed at The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, announced its 2007 nominees.

The National Radio Hall of Fame, housed at The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, announced its 2007 nominees.

Winners in each of the categories will be inducted during a national radio broadcast from Chicago on Nov. 3. ABC Radio will produce and distribute the one-hour broadcast.

The 2007 NRHOF nominees are:

* Network or Syndicated – Contemporary: Art Bell, Bob Kingsley, Marian McPartland and Dr. Laura Schlessinger

* Network or Syndicated – Pioneer: Jimmy Durante (deceased), “The Great Gildersleeve comedy series,” Phil Harris and Alice Faye (deceased) and the “Lum & Abner” comedy series

* Local or Regional – Contemporary: Jerry Coleman, Bob Grant, Ronn Owens and Donnie Simpson

* Local or Regional – Pioneer: Bob Collins (deceased), Dan Ingram, Bob Sievers and Rufus Thomas (deceased).

Ballots will be mailed in May.
