Burk Technology is planning to exhibit the AFD-1, which interfaces with a remote facility management system to notify personnel of electrical arcs and flame.
Applications include transmitter enclosures, antenna tuning units and transfer switches. The unit will reliably detect a pilot light, flame or arc from 15 feet.
Also to be shown: The adaptive serial-to-Ethernet bridge connects two LANs over a serial link, allowing network connection to equipment at remote broadcast sites. Applications include IP-based broadcast facility control (including Burk’s ARC Plus), access to Web-based setup and monitoring GUIs for a variety of remote equipment and e-mail access at the transmitter. Adaptive routing technology only transports the network traffic that is destined for the opposite end of the bridge, allowing maximum throughput and outstanding bandwidth efficiency.
And the company will show a Web-controlled AM/FM/RDS Receiver, which allows staff to remotely tune any station in a market and monitor real-time field intensity, phase, RDS activity, L/R audio and other parameters via a Web-based application. RDS text logging, audio alarm archives and FCC database integration provide metrics for monitoring their own stations as well as those of competitors from any location.
