Audio networking hardware maker Barix is bringing a new offering to the NAB Show, the Annuncicom PS1.
The PS1 is designed as an intercom module akin to a beltpack. But unlike a standard intercom module, the PS1 uses Ethernet as its signal carrier rather than RF or a dedicated cable com. The PS1 also uses power-over-Ethernet for power thus eliminating batteries.
The PS1 has a volume control thumbwheel along with two push-to-talk buttons. Connections are available for Ethernet (LAN), mic input and a headphones output. Onboard mic and speaker should prove handy.
With a built-in MP3 and AACplus decoding, the PS1 can be used as a confidence monitor as well. There is an optional beltclip.
