Cakewalk is shipping a new version of its flagship product, the Windows-based Sonar multichannel music creation/digital audio workstation platform.
The highlight of Sonar X1 is the new Skylight GUI. A Cakewalk press release described Skylight as “a next-generation workspace that ushers in a new level of simplicity, by providing an intelligent interface that moves beyond contemporary, single-window design and layout clutter.”
Skylight uses multiple translucent panes and can work with multiple monitors.
Cakewalk’s architects redesigned a number of elements including several tools and menus. Also new is 1.2 GBs of fresh content building blocks such as loops.
Sonar X1 is available in three iterations Producer ($399), Studio ($199) and Essentials ($99); upgrades are less.
