Grounding Seminar for Engineers in the Southeast

Grounding is critical and a challenge.

Attention broadcast engineers in the Southeast region, especially in north central Florida — the Tampa chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) is conducting a free one-day grounding and bonding seminar, Oct. 9.

The scheduled speakers hail from URS Corp., a facilities/architecture design firm. They will discuss theory and practice and examine several applicable case studies.

Roz Clark, chairperson of the Tampa chapter of the SBE, said: “Proper facility design begins from the ground up. Electrical grounding and bonding is critical in a broadcast facility and is also a unique challenge. The worlds of electrical safety, RF grounding and lightning suppression all come together and must be properly treated. Expert design and training is difficult to obtain in this specific area. The Tampa chapter of the SBE has added another valuable free training opportunity to gain insight in this discipline.”

The seminar will be at the Nielsen Ratings headquarters in Tampa. Lunch will be provided. Attendees do not have to be chapter members, although an RSVP by Oct. 7 is required. RSVP to Roz Clark — [email protected].
