Hardware and software developer IK Multimedia has announced the UltraTuner, an iDevice tuner app.
It is designed for use with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It uses a “proprietary dual-analysis processing engine,” that a release says makes the UltraTuner more accurate than a standard mechanical strobe tuner.
It has two modes. Stage Mode is for traditional instrument tuning. Its large lit screen provides easily seen information. Claimed precision is 0.01 of a cent.
Temperament selection for the UltraTuner includes: Equal, Pythagorean, Just Major, 1/4 Comma Mean Tone, Kimberger III, Werckmeister III, Young and Kellner.
Studio Mode is for allows for pitch tracking, pitch-over-time readings and an oscilloscope waveform display.
It can use onboard iDevice microphones or a device with UltraTuner installed can also work with IK Multimedia’s iRig HD, iRig Pro and iRig Mic hardware.
