Pro Sound Effects Releases “Tokyo Ambisonics”

Urban environment effects package has surround/virtual reality capabilities

In what is a cut-above the typical city ambiance package, Pro Sound Effects has released “Tokyo Ambisonics.”

The 22 GB package, according to a release, “includes software that allows sound editors and mixers to position ‘virtual microphones’ in any direction with various polar patterns for greater flexibility, realism and creativity.” This is courtesy of SurroundZone2 software, available in 32- and 64-bit AAX, AU and VST flavors.

Users may use the tracks in mono, stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 configurations, the company adds.

The 46 tracks are recorded in 24-bit/96 kHz BWAV files. Subject matter includes trains, parks and traffic.

Previous iterations of the surround-style Ambisonics packages have featured “Chicago” and “New York.”
