The format clock wheel has long been an essential part of any radio station. Now, free software is allowing program directors to generate an hourly clock on demand.
Technology company Radioservers has released a free web-based format clock builder that exports to an image file.
The software allows radio programmers to build out various clock scenarios such as music categories, imaging, breaks and news, within a given hour. There are options for pre-set elements, or you can add customized events.

The tool keeps track of the time used and time remaining in a given hour.
Users can duplicate elements and change element lengths. Once a clock is complete, you can export the hour to a PNG file, suitable for a studio or office.
Radioservers said that no similar tools existed online, so it went ahead and developed one.
The Tulsa-based company was founded in 2004 by Bob Thornton.
