LABF Offers Free Spots for America’s 250th

“Before It Was History, It Was Broadcast”

Radio and TV stations can obtain a new series of 30-second spots highlighting the role of broadcasting in American history.

The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation released the series as part of its “Before It Was History, It Was Broadcast” initiative.

“The new :30 spots feature archival audio and visuals drawn from the Library of American Broadcasting Special Collection at the University of Maryland,” the organization said in the announcement.

“Each piece highlights the essential role radio and television stations have played in documenting the nation’s most defining moments as they unfolded. Topics covered range from children’s programming and game shows to ‘I Love Lucy’ and historic moments of national consequence.”

The spots include narration, archival elements and royalty‑free music. These are in addition to customizable “shells” released previously by LABF. The shells enable stations to incorporate their own voices, stories, and archival content.

To download the spots or shells, email Mary Collins at [email protected] or call (847) 910‑8878.
