Tascam Introduces Free Audio File Manager Software

It has built-in editing and files can be stored in a cloud service

Tascam has announced the release of its new Audio File Manager software.

The free software is a file browser that displays the waveform of a file in a selected library, with additional features.

The company said the software is designed to assist both field and multitrack recordings. It can be used to confirm the content of recordings and organize files to aid users in the next step of a recording session.

On the waveform, users can zoom in and out to inspect its display. The company suggested a use case to discover pops or clicks in a given recording.

There are editing functions available in the browser, including copy, cut and paste. The browser also includes the ability to normalize and mute sections of audio files.

Tascam says the software can be used to rename multiple audio files. It also has the ability to rename or add prefixes to multiple files in a batch capacity. This can be applied to individual files captured during entire sessions where a prefix was not inserted at the beginning of the recording.

The software also has support for moving files to either network drives or cloud services such as AWS storage or Dropbox.

Tascam said the software supports multi-channel playback of its own formatted audio files with its integrated mixer. The software supports standard mono .wav files as well as poly .wav files such as those commonly found on SD, SDHC and SDXC cards.

It also supports common audio formats, such as MP3, AIFF, MPEG-4 and M4A.
