From Radio World’s Who’s Buying What page: WDBX(FM) in Carbondale, Ill., has installed an Elenos ETG3500 transmitter from Broadcast Electronics.
James Helfrich is the station operations manager. He told the manufacturer, “In this first summer of operation, we experienced an average of 30% or more in energy saving from unit operation and associated reduction in cooling cost.” He said the transmitter was paired with a new Inovonics 272 processor and has produced a stronger and better-sounding signal.
The 3 kW community radio station is on 91.1 MHz and is licensed to Heterodyne Broadcasting. According to its website it uses solar power.
