SiriusXM’s 360L platform is extending its reach with the announcement that Alpine will be the first aftermarket car audio company to offer SiriusXM-ready head units with the hybrid radio platform.
The platform will become available on compatible head units via a free software update from Alpine in February. It requires the SiriusXM SXV300 Tuner and a subscription, sold separately.
Hybrid radio receivers combine over-the-air reception — in this case, reception of a satellite radio signal — with enhanced capabilities and communication via wireless connection. The 360L combines satellite and streaming content delivery. The company highlights the platform for its customization capabilities, recommendations, on-demand content and voice search. Some features of the 360L require a Wi-Fi connection with internet access.
The companies noted that Alpine was the first to introduce SiriusXM-ready head units in 2011.
Compatible head units include the Alpine Halo11 iLX-F511, Halo9 iLX-F509, the iLX-507 and certain head units specifically for Jeeps.
