Birmingham to Host Digital Radio Event

“Doing the DAB: Birmingham” will be similar to recent digital radio events in Manchester and Glasgow and will celebrate the strength of digital radio in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, England ��Digital Radio UK, together with the Radio Academy Midlands andRadioToday, are to hold a digital radio event in Birmingham on May 3, from 6�8 p.m., at the Hotel La Tour.

�Doing the DAB: Birmingham� will be similar to recent digital radio events in Manchester and Glasgow and will celebrate the strength of digital radio in Birmingham. Digital listening there is at 45.6%, and DAB radio ownership stands at 64%, ahead of the UK national average.

Radio Academy Midlands� Chair Gareth Roberts will host the event and speakers will be drawn from the BBC, commercial radio and community radio including BBC West Midlands, Free Radio Birmingham, BBC Asian Network, Birmingham�s DAB mini-mux and Digital Radio UK.

Speakers will discuss the 70 stations on DAB in Birmingham, the launch of 33 new national and local stations in the last eighteen months, the fourteen DAB stations on the Birmingham mini-mux, progress on Bauer�s digital strategy, and Free Radio Birmingham.
