DRUK to Host Digital Radio Event in Northern Ireland

Attendees will hear about the future of digital radio in Northern Ireland and how local stations are using digital platforms to reach new audiences

BELFAST, Northern Ireland ��Digital Radio UK is taking its �Doing the DAB� event in Northern Ireland, following the success of previous events held in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Liverpool.

Doing the DAB: Belfast attendees to will hear about the future of digital radio in Northern Ireland and how local stations BBC Radio Ulster, Downtown Radio, and Cool FM are using digital platforms to reach new audiences. Additionally, the Republic of Ireland�s public service broadcaster, RT�, will talk about future plans for digital radio, according to radiotoday.co.uk.

Doing the DAB: Belfast will be part of the Belfast Media Festival on Nov. 17, with the speakers including local broadcaster John Rosborough; Stuart Robinson and Mark Mahaffy from Bauer Radio, Northern Ireland; Michael Tumelty from BBC Northern Ireland; Larry Deeney from BBC Radio Foyle; Jimmy Buckland and Peter McVerry from Wireless Group; JP Coakley from RT�; Bryan Coombes from Arqiva; and, Ford Ennals from DRUK.

There are now more than 50 DAB stations available in Northern Ireland, according to the same article. Over the last several years Downtown Country, BBC Radio Foyle and U105 have gotten on digital radio as well.
