OSLO�There is some news to report on the digital radio front in Norway, all fromradionytt.no.

Boost for DAB in cars.�Elkj�p, a chain of electronics supermarkets in Norway, reports that the sales of DAB equipment meant for cars has doubled during this year. There�s also an increase in total DAB sales this year.

More DAB in northern Norway.�The County Council in the northernmost county of Finnmark has to asked to delay the FM shutdown (set to start in 2017) because of what they call�insufficient�DAB coverage. NRK has reacted by committing to more DAB transmitters to Finnmark in 2016.

Listening will decrease in 2017.�Mr.Knut-Arne Futs�ter, an expert from TNS Gallups, which produces the official listening figures in Norway, predicts a�decline�in listening when the national broadcasters turn off their FM transmitters. However, Futs�ter thinks that digital radio has a great future and that the listening will increase later on.�

Much of Norway is covered by analog FM transmitters from Sweden, by the way, so even after the 2017 sunset of FM there,FM receivers will still have transmitters to hear.� See thisprevious DRU articleon the topic. �
