Connected Cars to Make Up 20% of Global Market by 2019

One in five passenger vehicles will be connected in the next four years, according to Juniper Research

HAMPSHIRE, England One in five passenger vehicles across the globe will be connected by 2019, according to the new report from Juniper Research. With the release of the M2M & Embedded Devices: Strategic Analysis & Vertical Market Forecasts report, Juniper forecasts that telematics will continue to be on top, but smart-metering will be surging.

The roll-out of smart-metering initiatives healthcare, consumer electronics and retail will also see rapid growth over the next six years, according to Juniper. However, the utility sector is still expected to fall short of the connected automotive sector in terms of revenue. The M2M sector is expected to generate more than $40 billion globally by 2019, about double of what it is currently.

Other key findings show that the U.S. is still the leading region for M2M, ahead of western Europe and China.
