OSLO � In Norway, sales of DAB radios have increased in the first half of the year. �This is due to the fact that the national channels have started extinguishing FM and many listeners need to buy and buy new radios,� according to radionytt.no.
The country�s electronics industry reports that 35% of the population says they bought new radio in the first half, compared to 19% in the same period last year.�This equates to about 1.84 million DAB radios.�
The share that has purchased a DAB adapter for car has also doubled during the period, from 5% of the first half of the 2016 to 10% in 2017. However, there are still many cars that do not have DAB radio and several companies are working hard to change that by offering DAB + adapters.�
As an example, Norway�s Tiny Audio has won a number of tests in magazines and online newspapers.�It has sold more than 300,000 adapters of its series since its inception almost four years ago.�At the recent IFA in Berlin, the company launched two new products in the C-series, also according to radionytt.no.�
One of the new introductions is the Tiny c7. The user plugs the adapter into the car’s cigarette lighter, connects the supplied antenna, sets the transmit frequency on the FM band, then tunes the car radio in to that frequency. The c8 model works in a similar fashion, but has a larger display and an audio output that can be connected directly to the car radio�s aux input.�
