JOHANNESBURGThe South African state owned broadcast infrastructure provider Sentech will start testing DAB+ for VHF, and DRM for medium wave, beginning in October, according to bdlive.co.za.
Sentech”s CEO Setumo Mohapi is sanguine about the new technology. “The benefits are huge. There will be more services and more radio stations. Complementary data services will come naturally on the digital platform.”
The trials will run for a year and will provide coverage throughout the Gauteng province.
