Polish Radio Taps Emitel for DAB+ Contract

Telecompaper reports that Emitel will transmit digital terrestrial signals for Polish Radio in Warsaw, Katowice and Silesian, beginning in 2014.

This agreement would bring DAB+ coverage to 7 million Polish residents, and Polish Radio hopes to increase its coverage to 30 percent of the country’s territory, reaching about 56 percent of the population, by the end of next year.

Emitel was chosen over competitor Polskie Sieci Nadawcze i Bcast after submitting a proposal for the project.

The three-year agreement is official if Polish Radio signs the contract within the 10-day period.
