Ballots for the 2011 election of officers and directors for the SBE Board of Directors will be mailed July 25 to all voting members of the SBE. The society urges members to cast their votes and return the ballot in the envelope provided so it arrives at the SBE national office by Aug. 25.
There are seven candidates running for six available director seats and one candidate for each of the four officer positions. Directors’ terms are two years while terms for officers are one year. See the candidate list on the SBE website. The nomination deadline for the upcoming election was July 11.
Beginning in 2012, the SBE will move its election to an online system. Voting members will be able to review the candidate profiles on a web page and cast their ballots electronically, saving time and the cost of a stamp. The society will also save the cost of printing and postage, though it will still make ballots available to those who prefer to vote by mail.
