WASHINGTON TheFederal Communications Commissionhas committed to increasing outreach efforts in light of its recent AM revitalization order.
First, the commission put out a Public Notice that includes a simplified list of the rule and policy changes in its AM Radio Revitalization Order. Read the full Public Noticehere.
In the notice, the FCC released specific information on the timing of the opening of the FM translator modification application windows, as well as details about eligibility for each, construction and operational requirements and standards for those interested in submitting an application. Also, note that applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additionally, the FCC is developing a tool to help stations locate eligible translator stations.
The Media Bureau will initiate a three-month outreach effort to ensure that Class C and D licensees are well informed about the filing process. Licensees should ensure they have a current email address on file to ensure they will receive communication.
Licensees with CDBS account IDs and passwords should log in and make sure their account is up to date via the Account Maintenance button, or can consult the CDBS user guide.
Applicants who may have questions about the process should also find answers easier, whether via the newly created email address created for that purpose, via a staffer listed by the FCC or the pending website dedicated to the commissions AM revitalization efforts.
