The 2016 edition of the Gabriel Awards is now calling for entries.

The 2016 edition of the Gabriel Awards is now calling for entries. Founded in 1965 and sponsored by the Catholic Academy of Communication Professionals, the Gabriel Awards honor “excellence in media that entertains while presenting a true vision of humanity.” The deadline to submit entries will be Jan. 22.

New this year, the awards are now accepting entries in categories for video and audio programming that is broadcast through the Internet and social media. Other categories include religious, ecumenical or interreligious, arts and entertainment, news and informational, and children’s programming. Some categories include both national and local distribution.

To be eligible for a Gabriel Award, a program must have been released via broadcast, Internet or theatrically between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2015. Entry fee is $175 for all categories. The award ceremony will take place June 2 in St. Louis.

Some of last year’s winners in the radio category included the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Capital Public Radio and 88.5 WFDD. To see the full list of 2015 winners, click here.
