XM is going regional. In late spring/early summer, XM says, it will introduce six regional news and talk channels produced by Clear Channel. The satellite company said the move complements its recent addition of Cincinnati’s news station WLW(AM).
It said seven regional channels provided by Clear Channel Communications will comprise a new category on its channel guide called “Regional News, Talk & Music Channels.”
This category will also include Clear Channel-programmed music channels KISS, MIX, Nashville and Sunny, plus the launch of WSIX.
Clear Channel will start carrying commercials on these music channels in May, as previously announced; they are grouped separately from XM’s lineup of 69 commercial-free music channels on the channel guide.
