Arbitron says network radio reaches 128 million adults in their cars each week.
The company has put out a report called “Network Radio Today.” It looks at national radio listening and network radio audiences; findings are based on the company’s RADAR radio network audience service.
It found that network radio reaches about 75 percent of all radio listeners every week; it reaches nearly 80 percent of the 25-54 age group and nearly three-quarters of teens weekly; and more than 85 million adult women listen to network radio each week. Eighty percent of full-time, working women who have children under the age of 12 listen weekly.
Also, network radio reaches 128 million adults in cars weekly, compared to 93 million who listen at home. And, Arbitron said, network appeals to the U.S. ethnic population. Listening each week are nearly 9 of 10 black Americans (12+) and two-thirds of Hispanics.
