With the St. Louis market expected to go live soon with Arbitron PPM, Bonneville International is taking no chances with its stations in that market; it is adding a Burk PPM Assurance monitor and automatic recovery system to the cluster.
PPM Assurance was a winner of Radio World’s “Cool Stuff” Award this spring.
Nathan Burk of Burk Technology said: “PPM encoders are different from other mission-critical equipment because if there’s a failure, it’s silent. But PPM Assurance does more than just monitor the encoders. We focused on the automatic recovery aspect so that stations can minimize the financial impact of an encoding failure.”
Burk’s PPM Assurance monitors the PPM encoders, issues alarms when necessary and offers select remote control options such as encoder reboot. It was developed in collaboration with Arbitron.
Bonneville’s affected St. Louis cluster includes WARH(FM), WIL(FM) and WXOS(FM).
