Broadcasters Foundation Establishes Burton Fund

Bill Burton Memorial Fund in memory of recently passed ad executive

The Broadcasters Foundation of America has established a fund in memory of radio ad executive Bill Burton, who passed away Dec. 20.

Though 85, the always optimistic Burton remained active in promoting radio as a viable vehicle for advertisers. Many remember him for his “Be Fabulous” sales talks. On Dec. 23, many stations across the upper Midwest held a 30-second moment of silence in memory of Burton. Burton was based in Detroit.

Former Broadcasters Foundation executive and former President of Eastman Radio Carl Butrum, a long-time friend and colleague of Burton’s, said, “Radio owes Bill our gratitude for his wisdom and for imparting to us his boundless positive attitude, which infected everyone who came into contact with him. We mourn his loss, but remember the great man with The Bill Burton Memorial Fund.” Burton was a former leader of Eastman as well.
