FCC Extends Inspection File Deadline for Second Time

Technical issues have adversely affected the responsiveness of several FCC filing systems

Filers will have even more time when it comes to getting their online public inspection files uploaded online.

Due to technical issues, in early January the Media Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission announced it was giving an extension of time for filings to be uploaded into the commission’s Online Public Inspection File (OPIF) system. That initial extended deadline was Jan. 31.

Online technical issues have continued to adversely affect the responsiveness of both the OPIF system and the Licensing Management System (LMS), the bureau said. As a result, the commission decided to further extend the deadline by which all broadcast entities must upload required documents into their OPIF. There is also an extension for several other items, including the Renewal of Broadcast Station License form.

Now, all of those documents are due to be uploaded into OPIF, or filed through LMS, no later than Feb. 28, 2023.

According to the bureau, extending these filing deadlines are not expected to significantly impact the public’s or bureau’s review of a licensee’s compliance with the commission’s rules.

More information on the issue can be found by reaching out to Albert Shuldiner at the Audio Division at albert.shuldiner@fcc.gov.
