“For the final time, I have to privilege to say, I’m Christopher Cruise, CBS News.”

Those were the words of Cruise concluding the last “News on the Hour” for CBS News Radio, which aired on many affiliates, including WTOP(FM/AM) in Washington, D.C., at 11:00 p.m. Friday.

Then, in what will officially go down as the network’s final newscast, Cruise and several other CBS News Radio anchors, including Steve Kathan, Allison Keyes and Deborah Rodriguez, filed a special report that aired at the bottom of the 11 p.m. hour.

“I want to shout out my colleagues from Steve Kathan to Deborah Rodriguez to Camie McCormick, Stacy Lynn, Linda Kenyon, Jim Krasula and so many others who have given their hearts to this company and to the news,” Keyes said in the report. “Thanks to our copy editors, desk associates, tape ops, and also our amazing engineers and IT folk.”

Finally, the voice of Edward R. Murrow concluded the segment.

“Good night, and good luck.”

CBS News posted both the top and bottom of the hour segments on its YouTube page and you can hear them below, along with accompanying visuals. The final segment begins around the 3:50 mark in the clip.
