Cumulus Taps Regional VP of Rock Programming

Also names new PD for WKHX in Atlanta

Cumulus Media has promoted Jim Kurdziel to regional vice president of rock programming, overseeing the rock and alternative formats for Cumulus’ radio stations in the northeastern U.S. Also, the company named Brian Thomas as program director of WKHX(FM) in Atlanta.

Kurdziel will continue to serve as program director and midday personality for WEDG(FM) in Buffalo, N.Y. — his hometown. In his new role as regional VP of rock programming, he will support stations in markets including: Buffalo, N.Y.; Syracuse, N.Y.; Harrisburg, Pa.; Wilkes Barre, Pa.; Saginaw, Mich.; New Orleans; and Appleton, Wis.

Brian Thomas heads south to Atlanta from Cumulus’s Chicago cluster, where he was PD for WLS(FM). He also serves as a member of the Cumulus corporate programming team for the country format and is VP of classic hits programming.

Thomas was previously PD for Cumulus New York’s WNSH(FM). Prior to joining Cumulus, he was national vice president of classic hits programming for CBS Radio. He was also PD of WQYK(FM) and WRBQ(FM) and VP of programming for CBS Radio in Tampa.
