NAB has selected Cox Radio Co-COO Dick Ferguson to receive the 2002 National Radio Award. Ferguson recently completed eight years on the NAB Board of Directors where he served as chairman of the Radio Board for two years and joint board chairman for two years.
Ferguson began his radio career in high school and continued through college. Upon graduation from Union College, he joined WNHC, New Haven as an account
executive. By 1978, he and a group of managers purchased Williams Broadcasting Co.
which became Park City Communications with Ferguson as its president. In
1981, when Katz Communications purchased Park City, he was named president.
He also served as director and on the executive council for Katz. Later,
Ferguson again led a group of employees in purchasing Katz, forming NewCity
Communications, Inc. NewCity Communications was acquired by Cox Radio, Inc.
in April 1997.
The award will be presented during The NAB Radio Show, Sept. 12-14 in Seattle.
