The K-Love Christian contemporary radio network is set to enter the Baltimore market for the first time.
Shamrock Communications will sell Class B 100.7 WZBA(FM), licensed to Westminster, Md., and its two translators, the two-watt 100.1 W261CD(FM) in Baltimore and 250-watt 107.5 W298CG(FM) in Bel Air, to K-Love, according to a release, with an FCC application to follow.
WZBA currently runs a classic rock format as “100.7 The Bay.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Kalil & Co. was the broker for the transaction.
The Pennsylvania-based Shamrock is led by acting CEO Diane Shutter. It also owns seven stations in Scranton as well as 106.1 KRZQ(FM) Amargosa Valley, Nev., northwest of Las Vegas.
It has owned the Baltimore-area 100.7 FM signal since 1981, according to FCC records.
Shamrock also operated three radio stations in Milwaukee as a partnership with All-Pro Broadcasting under the name the Milwaukee Radio Alliance.
But the partnership sold WLUM(FM) and WLDB(FM) to K-Love last August for $4 million, while Civic Media acquired WZTI(FM) in September.
The company is the broadcasting affiliate of Times-Shamrock, which had formerly run daily and weekly newspapers before selling off its remaining papers in 2023.
The Lynetts, the family that started Times-Shamrock, had been producing newspapers since 1895 in Scranton.
