McClure Replaces Geary for iHeart Sacramento

Fresno iHeartRadio cluster adds local programming

Sara McClure has been named president of iHeartMedia Sacramento market, and McClure’s promotion coincides with John Geary’s return to retirement from his interim role as market president.

“The hiatus from my retirement was intended to be short-term, and seeing iHeartMedia from the inside has been a great experience. And I am beyond excited to see iHeartMedia Sacramento be led by Sara McClure moving forward,” said Geary. “Having worked with her for 17 years, I know Sara will be very successful because she has the talent and the leadership that the job demands today.”

McClure began her career in marketing at a San Francisco advertising agency. She transitioned to broadcasting and relocated to her hometown of Sacramento, first with Sinclair television and CBS Radio, followed by 15 years at Entercom. McClure joined iHeartMedia Sacramento in 2013. During her career, she has held several sales positions, including general sales manager, director of business development, director of sales and most recently senior vice president of sales at iHeartMedia.

iHeartMedia Sacramento includes KHYL(FM), KFBK(AM/FM), KSTE(AM), KQJK(FM) and KBEB(FM).

Nearby in the Fresno market, KALZ(FM) and KRZR(AM) have also added a new live and local program, “The Trevor Carey Show,” effective Dec. 7.

“The Trevor Carey Show” will broadcast weekdays at 6 p.m. on KALZ(FM)/PowerTalk 96.7 and KRZR(AM)/AM 1400. Carey, whose Fresno radio roots extend beck to the early ’90s, will bring another local voice that reflects the values and opinions of the Central Valley to PowerTalk.

The program will provide the PowerTalk audience with another Fresno-based platform for newsmakers to discuss local issues, as well as for state and national figures that have a direct impact on life in Central California, a release explained. Carey will also provide the Central Valley another local forum on how the 2016 election addresses issues of local importance.

“Trevor Carey is a passionate personality whose roots in the San Joaquin Valley lend him great understanding of our issues, concerns and perspectives,” said Program Director Jay Bohannon.

iHeartMedia Fresno owns and operates KALZ, KBOS(FM), KCBL(AM), KRZR(AM/FM), KFBT(FM), KFSO(FM), KHGE(FM), KRDU(AM) and KSOF(FM).
