ND SatCom, an SES-Astra company, announced that SES has acquired a stake in Glocom, a Dubai-based system integrator and equipment supplier for turnkey digital broadcasting solutions.
Zahid Mirza, founder and President of Glocom, remains co-shareholder and continues in his position as company CEO.
ND SatCom has strongly increased its revenues outside Europe, of which roughly 15% are generated in the fast growing Middle East and Africa region.
“Glocom is an established player in the United Arab Emirates and has implemented a large number of turnkey broadcasting solutions for major broadcasters in the Middle East and Africa,” stated Dr. Karl Classen, president and CEO of ND SatCom. “The acquisition allows us to expand our local system integration skills along our value chain in the digital broadcasting and uplink domains and adds a competitive capability for SES in this region.”
