Net Radio Listening Rebounds

Net Radio Listening Rebounds

Internet radio listening rebounded the week of July 8 to 15 and set the second record in a month, according to MeasureCast.
Since January, Net radio listening has increased 98%, even with the fall-off in the number of streaming stations the AFTRA “triple rate” action caused last spring. Eight of the top-10 stations in the latest MeasureCast report are Internet-only Webcasters.
MEDIAmazing, a listener-formatted, Internet-only Webcaster, once again held the No. 1 spot, while Virgin Radio — a United Kingdom-based terrestrial broadcaster — held sway at No. 2.
MeasureCast CEO Ed Hardy said that the continued growth in Internet radio listening bodes well for the industry.
“Streaming radio fans went back online to listen after the Fourth of July holiday and many more people are discovering the variety of terrestrial and Internet-only stations available through the Web. This is extremely encouraging for advertisers who plan to devote a portion of their ad budgets to streaming media.”
