OEM Receiver Integration, Multicasting on Display at NAB Radio Show

Several HD Radio products and services will be on display at the Ibiquity Digital booth (#406) here in Philadelphia during the NAB Radio Show Sept. 21-23. Additionally, company executives will be featured in three sessions focused on the promotion and deployment of HD Radio technology.
DICE Electronics, LLC is unveiling what it and Ibiquity say is the first HD Radio integration technology for OEM head units, to allow consumers to listen to digital AM/FM HD Radio signals with several existing vehicle audio systems, without having to replace their factory-installed car radios.
HD Radio receivers will be on display from Boston Acoustics, Eclipse, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic, Polk, Radiosophy, Sanyo and Yamaha.
Live multicast programming courtesy of Beasley Broadcasting’s WXTU(FM), Philadelphia will be airing in the booth. WXTU recently began multicasting a new sister country music station, XTU-Channel 2, featuring the next generation of country music artists.
A kiosk featuring a RealTraffic demonstration with SmartRoute systems from Westwood One will show how HD Radio technology can be used to provide local traffic updates.
Visitors to booth will be able to browse HDRadioPlaybook.com, the Web site launched this summer to provide broadcast executives and station personnel with tools for promoting HD Radio and educating listeners on the system’s new services.
HD Radio will also be featured at the following Ibiquity partner booths: BE Radio #319; Harris #519; Radiosophy #303; and Traffic.com #202.
More than 500 stations are now airing both an HD Radio and analog signal, according to the company.
