Cary Pahigian
Cary L. Pahigian has been named president and general manager of WBAL(AM) and WIYY(FM), the Hearst radio stations serving the Baltimore market.
Pahigian succeeds Edward C. Kiernan, who is retiring after a 23-year run overseeing the stations.
Pahigian joins Hearst from Saga Communications, where he served as president/GM of an eight-station radio group in Portland, Maine. While there, he strengthened the group’s market leadership as well as its community ties, a release reported.
He also worked as VP/GM of Boch Broadcasting in Cape Cod, Mass., growing a start-up venture to a five-station, multiformat broadcast group with a strong community presence. Previously, he served as VP of ops with Sconnix Broadcasting in Vienna, Va., and as station manager for Boston’s WBZ(AM) and as program/operations manager at WIP(AM) in Philadelphia.
Pahigian has served on the board of directors for the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association, among other industry and civic affiliations.
And speaking of Ed Kiernan retiring, here’s his grand exit.
