On Aug. 11, four broadcasters will be honored with a Nebraska Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame induction.
Kevin Kugler, Steve Lundy, John Knicely and Ken Siemek are this year’s inductees. They’ll be recognized at the NBA annual convention in Lincoln.
Established in 1972, the NBA Hall of Fame will grow to 127 members.
Kevin Kugler

If you’ve listened to Westwood One Sports network broadcasts or watched FOX Sunday NFL action, you will be familiar with Kevin Kugler’s work. He has the most extensive play-by-play resume of any Nebraskan, according to an NBA release.
Kugler began by doing play-by-play on KAWL(AM) in York, Neb., and hosted “Big Red Wrap-Up” and other programs on Nebraska Educational Television.
He is the former radio voice of the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks football and basketball teams.
On Westwood One, Kugler has been the radio voice of the NCAA Men’s Final Four since 2008, and he has also been calling college basketball on the Big Ten Network since 2012.
Steve Lundy

In a career approaching 50 years, Steve Lundy has been heard on several notable Nebraska radio stations. He got his on-air start in 1977 at KHUB(AM) in Fremont, and over the next 23 years, Steve was heard in Omaha on WOW(AM), KOIL(AM), KEFM(FM), KQKQ(FM) and KKAR(AM).
After four years on Lincoln’s KLIN(AM), Lundy joined Omaha’s KXKT(FM) in 2004, where he currently serves as co-host of “Steve & Gina in the Morning.”
When he is not on the air, Lundy dedicates his time to reading to area grade school classrooms and helping at-risk elementary school students, NBA said.
John Knicely and Ken Siemek
From his start as a TV sportscaster through his 34 years as news anchor on Omaha’s WOWT(TV), John Knicely built a long career in Nebraska television before retiring in 2025.

Over the course of his 44 years on KOLN(TV) in Lincoln and KGIN(TV) in Grand Island, meteorologist Ken Siemek led the stations’ weather department through technology changes before retiring in 2025.
