Heidi Raphael will succeed David Donovan as president and CEO of the influential New York State Broadcasters Association.

Raphael is chief communications officer of Beasley Media Group, which she joined a decade ago. Before that she was with Greater Media for 20 years, ultimately as senior VP of corporate communications. She also has done communication work on behalf of the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation.

NYSBA said in the statement, “She has earned widespread recognition for her strategic vision, industry advocacy, communications expertise and unwavering commitment to supporting local broadcasters and the communities they serve.”

She is a native of western New York state, where she began her broadcast career.

Donovan led the association for 15 years; he will transition out later this year “while continuing to direct NYSBA’s government relations and advocacy efforts in Albany and Washington, D.C.”

Beasley CEO Caroline Beasley sent Raphael along with good wishes. “She has become not only a trusted colleague, but also a valued friend.”
