Quu Inc. says Steve Newberry has signed on for an additional three years as company CEO. Newberry joined Quu as its CEO in 2020. He previously was the executive vice president for industry affairs and strategic planning at the National Association of Broadcasters.

During his five-year tenure as CEO, Newberry is credited for launching the Quu Visual Network (QuuVN), giving national brands a new way to connect with local audiences through visual radio ads, per the company. He also initiated Quu’s original research efforts — including the annual In-Vehicle Visual Reports and a QuuVN case study that found on-screen radio campaigns can increase purchase intent by 89%.

“The past five years at Quu have been incredibly rewarding,” said Newberry in a press release. “We’ve worked hard to make visual radio seamless and accessible to stations of all sizes. Now our remarkable team is focused on new products to drive ratings and revenue across broadcast, digital and future platforms. I’m excited about what’s next, not just for Quu, but for the entire radio industry.”

A lifelong broadcaster, Quu says Newberry became a station owner at age 21. He is a recipient of the NAB National Radio Award, as well as the founder and chairman of Commonwealth Broadcasting Corporation, a radio group with stations in his home state of Kentucky.

Looking ahead to Newberry’s next leg as CEO, Quu said its expansion plans include extending its visual radio technology beyond dashboard screens into digital audio, streaming and emerging channels. The company says, currently, more than 2,000 radio stations use its technology to display real-time music, content and advertiser messages on vehicle dashboards.
