Radio TechCon 2018 Looks at Everything Audio

Will discuss AI, smart speakers, small-scale DAB trial updates, touch-controlled studios, more

Radio TechCon 2018 will take place on Monday Nov. 28 at IET London, Savoy Place.

The radio and audio technical and engineering conference, which draws in broadcast engineers, technologists managers and producers, will focus this year on the touchscreen studio, how to ensure radio sounds at its best on smart speakers, Artificial Intelligence and radio, and more.

This preliminary program includes presentations on the future of audio; loudness and smart speakers – how best to adjust your audio for one of the most important outlets for radio in the last 80 years; the latest research on audio mixing from the University of Salford; an update from Ofcom on the small scale DAB trials; how Artificial Intelligence can revolutionize audio; and creating a studio controlled only by touch – lessons from Bauer’s new setup.

With Broadcast Bionics as the main sponsor, the one-day conference will feature a mix of speakers from across audio and technical disciplines in addition to master classes and case studies. Additional sponsors include Arqiva, the IET, Broadcast Radio and RCS.

Running parallel to the conference sessions will be a “mini-trade fair,” highlighting the latest technological advances.

Tickets for Radio TechCon cost £150 (US$196) + VAT, with discounts available for members of The Radio Academy, Community Media Association, Student Radio Association, RIG, Sound Women Network, the AES and the IET. Tickets include entry to all the talks, the trade fair, lunch and cake.
